Custom temporary tattoos

Design and production of temporary tattoos for

La nuit où Laurier Gaudreault s'est réveillé ,  Matthias & Maxime

It's only the end of the world and  Mommy

Films directed by Xavier Dolan

We have had the pleasure of working on several productions by renowned director Xavier Dolan.

When our design is completed and approved, we prepare the temporary tattoos by aging them and altering their color and opacity. This process requires several trial-and-error tests before finding a convincing effect on the skin.

Please note that most of the photos come from our teste on volunteers  in the workshop and are not necessarily the actors who wore the tattoos on set.

In some cases, to get the final OK from the director, we apply the tattoo on the actor. A makeup artist will take over for every day of filming, following our recommendations.

A tattoo positioned where it is protected from too intense friction can last several days.

It’s difficult to do tattoo transfers on the upper shoulders in particular. The tattoo is applied flat, but the curves of the shoulder don't really lend themselves to it, because the design wants to stick to itself on a curve. So we need to distort the design so that it looks the way we want when applied.

On Mommy, we made a lion carried by actress Anne Dorval. A real gem!

On the film “Just the End of the World”, we made 2 upper arm tattoos with rose designs, worn by the actress Léa Seydoux.

In Matthias and Maxime, Xavier Dolan wore a blue jay on the back of his neck.

In The night where Laurier Gaudreault woke up, Xavier Dolan wore a sentence written in Gothic letters around his neck.
